Tinnitus Evidence reviews published research, but some important questions remain unresolved. This section highlights patterns that emerge across multiple studies and may be worth testing further. These are hypotheses, not treatment recommendations or established medical conclusions.
Open questions
- Could patterns of somatic tinnitus modulation help predict treatment response? — the simple yes/no version has been tested (mostly null); whether graded modulation features carry predictive information remains open.
How a question earns a place here
Every entry follows the same process before publication:
Pattern identified → adversarial literature search → precedent check → contradictory-evidence search → hypothesis refined or rejected → human approval → publication.
Hypotheses are never auto-published. The weekly research automation may flag candidate questions internally for review, but nothing appears in this section without an adversarial precedent audit and explicit human approval — and being listed here never affects any treatment's evidence rating, tier, or ranking. Unlike evidence records, entries here carry no evidence scores.
